If you too grew up in the 80s and 90s, then surely Doordarshan would have been your only source of entertainment.
What were those days, watching movies only 1 day a week, waiting for Chitrahaar to watch songs.
Today, even though we have hundreds of channels to watch, do we really watch TV with as much interest as we used to?
Old programs used to be the mirror of our society but today's programs are limited only to mother-in-law and daughter-in-law and conspiracy. Art has almost disappeared from today's TV programs.
Let us remember some of the golden programs of our childhood.
1. Shaktimaan
Talking about famous TV programs and Shaktimaan's name is not there, this cannot happen. Children of the 90s know what an exciting show Shaktimaan used to be for them. Many children even skipped school on Saturdays so that they could watch the Shaktimaan serial.
2. Byomkesh Bakshi
Perhaps Byomkesh Bakshi was India's first espionage program. This TV serial was at the peak of its fame in the 90s because it was full of suspense.
3. Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne
Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne used to be a much talked about serial of its time. This serial became so famous that the name of this serial started being used for day dreamers. Raghuveer Yadav ji played the role of Mungerilal in the program Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne.
4. Chandrakanta
Chandrakanta started airing in 1994. Chandrakanta serial was based on a novel named Chandrakanta and it is said that many people also learned Hindi language to read this novel.
5. Malgudi Days
Malgudi Days was a group of short stories written by Shri RK Narayan. Actually Malgudi was the name of a fictional town whose stories are shown in the serial called Malgudi Days. Even today the tune of the song of Malgudi Days serial is very popular.
6. Alif Laila
Alif Laila was a very exciting program created by Shri Ramanand Sagar Ji. The show was based on the Arabian Nights and consisted of a series of stories. In those times, without technology, Ramanand Sagar ji along with his team surprised the audience of that time by creating very good animations and graphics in the serial Alif Laila. The theme song of Alif Laila serial was also sung very beautifully.
7. Captain Vyom
Captain Vyom used to appear on Doordarshan every Sunday morning and from its first episode itself, it had won over a lot of viewers.
8. Circus
You might not believe it after knowing that Circus serial was a serial of Shahrukh Khan's early days when not many people knew him. Along with Shahrukh Khan, it also featured Renuka Shahane, Neeraj Vora and Ashutosh Gowarikar.
9. Shrimaan Shrimati
Shriman Shrimati was a great comedy show of the 90s. Recently, a new version of the same program was aired on SAB TV by the name of Shriman Shrimati Phir Se.
10. Poti Baba
There was a puppet show by Potli Baba. This program was very popular among children. The theme song of Potli Baba Ki was sung by Sonu Nigam.

Amitesh Kochar has now grown up and people still love him for his role as Junior G.
6. Kavi Kumar Azad as Police Officer :
Kavi Kumar Azad used to play the role of Police Officer in Junior G. Apart from this he is popular for his role as Doctor Hathi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma (TMKOC). Sadly he is no more in this world with us now.
