In anger, he was about to destroy those two pigeons with his third eye when Parvati ji pleaded for mercy from Lord Shiva in favor of the pigeons. He told Lord Shiva that the pigeons were innocent, and that they had only accidentally heard this immortality secret.

Ultimately Lord Shiva agreed to Mother Parvati, and she not only gave up her anger and forgave both the pigeons but also granted them immortality. The pigeons were so grateful for Lord Shiva's mercy that they took a vow to always stay in the Amarnath cave and protect it from harm.
